Dune Hiriketiya

Hiriketiya Bay is a near-perfect horseshoe of white sand enclosed by granite headlands — discovered by a handful of surfers in 2014 and still intimate enough that every face at the morning yoga session becomes familiar by lunch. Dune Hiriketiya is the bay's most characterful address: a collection of whitewashed rooms arranged around a mural-covered social courtyard, each one open to the sea breeze, simply furnished in rattan and linen, and priced to make a long stay feel reasonable. The wave at Hiriketiya is a forgiving left-hander ideal for intermediate surfers, and the inner bay is calm enough for children and free divers exploring the coral. Paddleboards and kayaks are pulled from the sand shed at will. The kitchen does one long communal dinner each evening — a rotating Sri Lankan menu served family style — and the bar stays open until the last surfer calls it a night.
