Udawalawe

Udawalawe National Park is the best place in Sri Lanka — perhaps in Asia — to observe wild elephants at close range. Herds of fifty or more move unhurriedly across the open grasslands, a landscape so different from the dense jungles of Yala that it feels like a different country entirely. The park also supports large populations of water buffalo, crocodile, and over 180 species of bird.
