98 Acres Resort & Spa

Named for the tea estate it occupies, 98 Acres Resort & Spa stretches across a long ridge above Ella with views that take in the Nine Arch Bridge, Little Adam's Peak, and the misty corridor that runs south toward the coast. The villas — some with private plunge pools, all with wrap-around verandahs — are positioned to face the sunrise, which arrives over the ridge in shades of amber and pink that the Instagram age has made famous. Inside, local artisan detail work is everywhere: handblown glass lamps, hand-carved timber panels, bespoke ikat textiles in the Kandyan palette. The Spa uses mountain-herb treatments developed with local healers, and the restaurant sources almost entirely from the estate's kitchen garden.
